Music Career - Light Music

Eminent musicologist Dr.Ashok D. Ranade used to call Master Krishnarao 'Pioneer of Marathi Sugam Sangeet aka light music'. Master Krishnarao's music compositions for Prabhat Film Company's films like Gopalkrishna were neither difficult nor complex. In an article on Krishnarao's music Dr. Ranade wrote that Master Krishnarao's film music is the foundation of Marathi light music.

Master Krishnarao's many musical tunes were simple and sahaj. He composed several tunes by using minimum notes. Several of his musical compositions, instead of juggling with complexity, reflect a preference for sahaj bhaav. This bhaav expresses natural and spontaneous emotions of the verse.
