While composing for films or the stage, Master Krishna did not need any accompanying instrument or lyrics. Just a brief narration of the story by the director and the context in which the song was to be placed was enough for him. He would zero in on the exact emotions that were involved and begin to compose a tune, even composing a few more options for the director to choose from.
His tunes for the songs 'Marathi Ase Amuchi Mayboli', 'Wedya Mana Talamalashi', 'Jayee Partoni Bala' were based on the bhavgeet genre, light music. While the songs for the Natyaniketan musical plays 'Kulavadhu', 'Ek Hota Mhatara', 'Kone Eke Kali', etc. were classical based, but leaning towards the lighter form of bhavgeet.
Master Krishna had composed the tunes for the songs of Prabhat Film Company’s Hindi film 'Wahan'. The superhit song from this film, 'Har gali mai hai bageeche' with its melodious tune, was later used by singer Gajanan Watwe for the Marathi song 'Gagani Ugawala Sayantara'. Master Krishna’s mellifluous and classy tunes have left an indelible mark on the genre of the Marathi bhavgeet.
